David Glass is one of the worlds leading theatre makers and teachers. He is a pioneer in the areas of Physical, Devised, Adapted, Ensemble and Applied Theatre. Integrating learning from his teachers Lecoq, Grotowski, Gaulier , Decroux , Brook, Boal Ailey and Alfreds, over 45 years David has bridged the innovative theatre of 20th and helping to define the theatre and training of the 21st Century.
David’s work has influenced and been employed by theatre companies and educational, social development and corporate organisations around the world (UN, Save the Children, Gecko, 111 Program and many more)
This masterclass will be rigorous, playful and impactful. Participants will come away with the tools to integrate and strengthen what they already do in their own practice, broadening and deepening their ability within the fields of the arts, education, social development or corporate environments.
The workshop is rooted in the body of the performer and emotion, physical metaphor and action form the key elements of the technique. You will learn how to have a greater presence on stage, how to balance simplicity and intensity, progressively engaging with new layers of response from restrictive to fully flexible. Participants will explore the vivid influence of ensemble work on the individual creative process and vice versa.
Integrating both trainings the participants will use both the physical theatre training and Ensemble methodologies to create and share an ensemble piece on the Saturday afternoon.
For participants aged 18+ with some knowledge of theatre making – come prepared to move in comfortable clothing.
“David Glass’s Creative Practice is a unique and courageous exploration of the archetypal experience of being human.”
Peter Brook, International Theatre Director
